On the Issues
Across Connecticut, too many people are hardly getting by. Families are working harder than ever and still ending the month with too little in the bank. Seniors on fixed incomes continue to see their expenses rise and their options for aging with dignity decline. Education has become a luxury, healthcare costs are unreasonable, and homeownership is nothing but a pipe dream for too many of us. We look at other countries and know it doesn’t have to be this way. We know these are policy choices that benefit the ultra-wealthy and hang the rest of us out to dry.
I’ve spent years talking to people across District 34 and the solutions below are based on these conversations. CT can do better.
Priorities
Every policy choice Connecticut makes should answer one simple question: Does this make life better and more affordable for the people who live here?
Affordability & Tax Equity
Making Connecticut work for working people. In District 34, rising utility bills, housing costs, and property taxes hit families and seniors hardest. Meanwhile, Connecticut’s tax system still gives the biggest breaks to those at the very top.
Our Solutions:
-
Ensuring large corporations and billionaires pay their fair share.
-
Moving toward public, accountable utilities that prioritize reliable service and stable rates- not corporate profit.
-
Investing in housing growth so young people can build lives in CT, seniors have choices, and workers can live near their jobs.
The return: lower monthly costs, stronger local economies, and communities where people can afford to stay.
Education
Families in District 34 know the value of a good education, but too often the cost is a burden that falls heaviest on working people. Whether through property taxes or student debt, the investment is now a heavy burden we struggle to sustain. This results in crumbling infrastructure, underfunded schools, and a generation with crippling education debt.

What we’re fighting for:
-
Debt-free public college so that students can build their futures
-
A fair K–12 funding system that doesn’t depend on local property taxes to determine a child’s opportunity.
-
Support for educators, counselors, and staff who keep our schools strong.
The return: a skilled workforce, higher lifetime earnings, and a stronger Connecticut economy.
Economic Growth & Small Businesses
District 34’s economy depends on small businesses, local employers, and people who want to work and build a life here. Employers of all sizes say the number one issue impacting their ability to attract and retain good talent in CT is housing. Let’s fix that.
Our Solutions:
-
Making it easier for small businesses to access capital and state contracts.
-
Supporting entrepreneurs who reinvest locally.
-
Establishing crucial guardrails for rapidly evolving AI technology, aiming to balance innovation with the protection of fundamental rights, safety, and privacy.
-
Creating pathways to good-paying jobs that don’t require leaving the region.
-
Investing in meaningful housing expansion and expanding public transportation
The return: more quality local jobs, stronger main streets, and economic growth that stays in our communities.
Environment & Climate Resiliency
From coastal flooding in East Haven to rising energy bills, District 34 feels the impacts of climate change firsthand.

Our Solutions:
-
Invest in climate resilience to protect homes, roads, and local infrastructure.
-
Expand clean energy and efficiency, lowering utility costs over time.
-
Support good-paying green jobs that keep Connecticut competitive.
The return: Protecting our communities while lowering long-term costs.
Avoided disaster costs, healthier communities, and energy systems that work for people.
Quality Healthcare for All
It's time for universal healthcare. Too many families in District 34 delay care because of cost or lack of access, especially mental health care. The US comes in last amongst our peers for health outcomes across the board. It’s beyond time to address this and implement a single-payer approach. Anything short of this is a band-aid on an open wound.
What we’re fighting for:
-
Affordable, accessible healthcare coverage.
-
Real investment in mental health services, including community-based care.
-
Full protection of reproductive and gender affirming healthcare, so personal medical decisions stay personal.
The return: healthier families and lower long-term healthcare costs.
Evidence-Based Public Safety
Safe communities start with strong communities. People in District 34 want safety- and they want solutions that actually work.
Our Solutions:
-
Addressing root causes like housing instability, untreated mental health needs, and lack of opportunity.
-
Investing in prevention, youth programs, and reentry services proven to reduce crime.
-
Supporting strategies that are backed by evidence- not politics.
The return: safer neighborhoods, fewer victims, and smarter use of public dollars.
Supporting Families
Raising a family in District 34 should not feel financially impossible. We need to support policies that ensure CT is a good pick for growing families.

What that looks like:
-
Implement Universal 3-K, giving kids a strong start and parents real choices.
-
Make childcare affordable and accessible, so parents can work and caregivers are paid fairly.
-
Support policies that help families stay rooted in their communities.
The return: stronger outcomes for kids, higher workforce participation, and economic stability.
Uplifting our Seniors
Seniors are essential leaders and teachers in our communities. Many seniors in District 34 are worried about staying in their homes and keeping up with rising costs. They’re also concerned about our senior centers and healthcare providers being able to support an aging population.

Our Solutions:
-
Targeted tax relief for seniors who need it most.
-
More affordable senior housing options.
-
Direct investment in District 34 senior centers that reduce isolation and support healthy aging.
The return: Honoring those who built our communities, lower healthcare costs, stronger community ties, and dignity in aging.
Veterans
Veterans in District 34 deserve more than thank yous- they deserve meaningful support and fully funded services. To me, honoring our veterans also means refusing to send our military into endless wars and manufactured conflicts.

Our Solutions:
-
Access to mental health care and stable housing.
-
Clear pathways to good-paying civilian jobs.
-
Cutting red tape so veterans can access the benefits they earned.

The return: Keeping our promise to those who served, stronger communities, reduced homelessness, and honoring service with action.
Constitutional Rights
Consistent with the Connecticut Trust Act, our campaign stands for the constitutional right to due process for all residents of our towns, our state, and our nation, whether native-born or foreign-born, citizens and non-citizens. We believe it is our duty to keep our neighborhoods and neighbors safe from kidnappings and family separation.

Every one of these priorities comes back to the same idea: when Connecticut invests wisely, the return belongs to all of us.
